We finally introduce a simple symbolic review-rating system. The idea is to remain as consistent as possible in the ever faster changing times — and therefore broad and generic. I chose the “pollice verso” (with a turned thumb) system used by the crowd in ancient Rome…and later by the movie critics Siskel and Ebert. Pollice verso refers to the hand gesture or thumb signal to pass judgement on a defeated gladiator.
Our rating system is self explanatory and not compulsory and the individual reviewers on this blog have to decide for themselves whether to apply it to their reviews or not.
