Gravastar has managed to churn out some wild designs when it comes to their offerings. Their TWS Sirius Pro, reviewed here, is unlike anything we’ve seen in the market.

So, of course, Gravastar decided to one-up on that with the Mars Pro Bluetooth speakers. These look less like speakers and more like a miniature report straight from a dystopian future.

The attention to detail is exceptional. The zinc alloy shell (which weigh a lot, but feel that much nicer in hand) is hand-painted. The version I received for review is the “war damaged yellow” which also has literal scratches on top of the shell. It’s all very convincing and for once I am enamored by the design of a bluetooth speaker.

Full review is in the works. Meanwhile, enjoy these photos I took.

Check Alberto’s analysis of the Gravastar Sirius Pro.

Here you have the opportunity to check out the MM2’s physical features.

The post PhotoGraphed: BQEYZ Autumn vs. BQEYZ Summer appeared first on Music For The Masses.

]]>
BQEYZ have issued a series of mid-tier earphones named after the first three seasons of the year: BQEYZ Spring 1, BQEYZ Spring 2, and BQEYZ Summer, and the Autumn. The company experimented with different driver configurations and achieved mixed results. The Spring models suffered from a wooly bass but excelled in midrange reproduction. The Summer fixed the bass but was criticized for its plastic build.

The BQEYZ Autumn remidies all previous issues and is the best and most mature sounding iem of the series. In fact it is a very good and enjoyable single DD iem. And it is flexible, sonically, as you can adjust the bass response with the three included front vents.

Before you read my Autumn review, you have the opportunity to check out the Autumn’s physical features. Is the nozzle length right for you, will the shell fit your ears well? Sound quality is only one aspect of an iem’s functionality. And the best iem is the one we use most. Don’t you agree?

Check out my BQEYZ Autumn review.

PhotoGraphed: IKKO OH2 vs. IKKO OH1S https://www.audioreviews.org/ikko-oh2-opal-photography/ https://www.audioreviews.org/ikko-oh2-opal-photography/#respond Fri, 18 Mar 2022 15:22:50 +0000 https://www.audioreviews.org/?p=53666 Some technical photography showing the physical features of this earphone prior to my full review.

The post PhotoGraphed: IKKO OH2 vs. IKKO OH1S appeared first on Music For The Masses.

]]>

This is a visual intro to the IKKO OH2 Opal. IKKO have been a company offering a small but fine selection of iems. That has changed lately as they have expanded into electronics. We at audioreviews.org have followed their iems since their OH1. The $199 IKKO OH10 made it even onto our Wall of Excellence.

The OH10 have a very safe, likeable V-shaped tuning with no peaks or pierces and huge stage. They are a first taste of the premium segment at a mid-tier price…and therefore a rare example of justifying the otherwise hollow marketing term “entry level” (with respect to premium).

The smaller $159 IKKO OH1S shows a completely different tuning with a strictly linear bottom shelf and a rather “vivid” treble that caused some confusion with the reviewers. The rumour arose that the OH1S don’t have “enough” bass and to much spice in the upper registers. In fact, their bass response is just fine and the treble extension may be a matter of taste.

What was also unusual is their oval nozzles for which I had issues finding third-party tips suiting my ears. On the other hand, the included IKKO foams work well in that they provide a good seal and help with the bass.

IKKO responded to the criticism of the OH1S with the new IKKO OH2. They are a tad larger than the OH1S and have the same accessories – at a much lower price. The biggest difference is in the tuning: while the bass shelf was kept the same, upper OH2’s midrange was somewhat reduced, and much of that treble extension was shaved off. The result is a more generally appealing sound.

Read my review of the IKKO OH2.

The devil is in the treble: the OH2 offers a more soothing top end. Bass is actually plenty. The sub-bass drop-off is a artifact of the coupler used.

The SeeAudio Yume is a 1DD + 2BA earphone in the mid tier. Its dynamic driver “DD” features a rare liquid silicone diaphragm. The Yume is known for its spotless tonality with a frequency response fitting the Harman Target curve almost perfectly. Unfortunately, one earpiece had a a manufacturing flaw (possibly glue in the DD) so that proper auditioning and therefore a real review was impossible. So, please read the reviews of others while looking at the technical photos below.

Steve Tong, CEO of SeeAudio, responded rather quickly over Facebook Messenger and offered to re-imburse import fees and expenses. Excellent customer service. The SeeAudio Yume was kindly provided by HifiGo and I thank them for that.

Frequency response, left channel only (2 measurements overlain). The kinks at 160 Hz and 320 Hz, while unimportant, are no coupler or eartips artifacts.

The SeeAudio Yume comes with a quality 5N occ copper cable I know from the iBasso IT01, two sets of eartips, stickers, paperwork, and a metal storage case. The earpieces, although not the smallest, are light and comfortable. Isolation is good. The eartips are large enough for my ears canals. Everything works out of the box…other than the sound :).

The $300 Sennheiser IE 300 (above left) is the company’s latest mid-price iem to be released in the Americas and Europe in March 2021 (out in Asia since mid January 2021). It is based sonically on the $350 Sennheiser IE 400 PRO, the best of their PRO series imo…which is evident from their superimposed frequency responses graphs. The $159 KBEAR Believe is a technologically advanced single-dynamic-driver earphone. It joins the much more expensive Dunu Luna and Final Audio A8000 premium earphones with its pure Beryllium diaphragm. Beryllium is probably the stiffest diaphragm material that provides for the fastest possible driver.

The TRN-STM is a 1DD + 1BA earphone in the <$25 segment. It comes with three screw-on tuning filters (gold, red, blue) that appear to differ in length. At an impedance is 24 Ω and a sensitivity of 106 dB/mW, the TRN-STM is driven easily with any phone. My full review to follow.

Get the TRN-STM at Wooeasy Earphones Store.

The single dynamic driver FiiO FD1, together with its 1+1 sibling FH1s, is the company’s lowest priced earphone offering. The FiiO FD1 prides itself of its beryllium coated diaphragm. This is just a technical photo page, the earphone’s technical capabilities have been tested in an exhaustive review HERE. The FiiO was provided by HifiGo and I thank them for that.

The $329 Anew X-One is a 4 + 1 hybrid earphone that comes with three different plug-in tuning modules in the shape of chips. These modules work well (and only differ from each other above 2 kHz), they are certainly interesting but they don’t exactly do as described by the company – I’ll discuss this in my forthcoming review. My initial sound impressions are very positive. The Anew X-One has a huge headroom, which appears to justify their cost. Shells, cable, and connectors are of super-rugged quality – best I have ever experienced – and the accessories are impressive, too.

Review of the CCA CA16 earphone coming up soon, here are some pictures for now. These are available from many sellers such as Wooeasy on Aliexpress @ $59 who provided them for review. Large body, small nozzle, don’t judge.

Things that are interesting in the CCA CA16:

 • Large body but smaller nozzles maybe there are people out there with large ears but small canals that will appreciate a nozzle not trying to enlarge your ear canals.
 • The eartips are an uncommon U shape over a more V type, and bring the nozzle nearly flush to the end of the tip.

While I jot my notes down for the BQEYZ Spring 2 provided by and available @ Hifigo for $169 – I figured some like to ogle them while they wait. There are some clear differences I thought worth mentioning that I didn’t want to clog up my forth coming review. My goal for pictures are to highlight features and compare so someone who cannot touch them in person can make an educated decision.

Spring 2 physical changes compared to the Spring 1:

 • The nozzle angle is changed and feels more comfortable. Points forward more and less downward angle.
 • The nozzle position is moved inward towards the center of the body by a millimeter or so. Hard to measure so a best guest.
 • The nozzle screen holes are more open, less holes but larger openings
 • The nozzle appears to be slightly shorter
 • Body has a slight protrusion
 • Cable is more pliable picture of Spring1, Spring 2 and a standard KZ/CCA cable.
